History
One of Thailand’s unique icons, the “Tuk-Tuk” (coinage taken from the chugging sound of the vehicle’sengine), a symbol of Thai ingenuity, this three-wheeled motorized rickshaw can befound on almost any road in Bangkok and hasmade its presence where traffic congestion is a problem. First used in Thailand during the 1960s and has become extremely popular as a modeof transportation. It is manufactured in Chonburi province and exported abroad.
“Tuk-Tuks” are common in many other Asian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Some can be seen on the streets of China Town in London as well as other European cities, also in South American cities and . . . even in far away Kenya, Africa !!! |
